The Dodge brand is synonymous with power, so you may understandably have your eye on iconic Dodge models like the Challenger and the Charger. The 2022 Challenger is a muscle car with exceptional capabilities and eye-catching style. The Charger is classified as a large sedan, and it also has exceptional capabilities. Before you settle on a specific model for your next car purchase, it makes sense to dig deeper to identify the exciting differences and similarities between these options. Our Johnson Dodge Chrysler Jeep associates are on-hand to assist with your comparison.

Both the 2022 Dodge Challenger and the 2022 Charger are offered with many powertrain options, and all have the capabilities necessary to impress you. The Challenger’s base powertrain is a V6, 3.6-liter, 303-horsepower engine combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All of the Challenger’s other powertrains are V8 systems. The top-of-the-line option is found in the SRT Super Stock trim level. This is an 807-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 engine. This trim also comes with enhanced braking capabilities and street-legal drag-racing tires.

The base powertrain offered for the Charger is a 3.6-liter V6, 292-horsepower engine. The premium powertrain available for the 2022 model year is a supercharged V8, 6.2-liter, 797-horsepower engine. However, if you upgrade to the Jailbreak package, the engine can produce 807 horsepower.

The differences between the 2022 Challenger and the 2022 Charger persist throughout their styling. The Challenger has a power vent in the hood with a squared-off nose and an expansive grille that extends across the width of the front end. A pair of rounded LED headlights flank the grille. This two-door model has performance-driven sculpting throughout its sides and a spoiler at the rear.

The 2022 Charger also has a power vent in select trim levels, and it boasts more curves from front to rear. A stretched grille further defines this four-door sedan with elongated, LED-enhanced headlights. Below the grille is a black fascia that adds an athletic touch to the nose. You will find angled accents that visually create a sense of forward momentum on the sides.

You can appreciate many of the same features throughout the trim levels for the 2022 Challenger and the 2022 Charger. Equipment that may be in select trims for both models includes forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, remote engine start, a push-button starter, keyless entry, a UConnect system, an auto climate control system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and more.
